HTET परीक्षा - Level 1 PRT - इतिहास

The correct option is 1:
The author of the highly influential pamphlet Common Sense was Thomas Paine. Published anonymously in January 1776, this pamphlet was a crucial piece of political literature that profoundly shaped American public opinion just as the colonies were moving toward revolution. Paine’s argument was revolutionary because it moved beyond merely protesting British taxation and parliamentary abuses to explicitly advocating for American independence and establishing a republican form of government. The pamphlet’s plain language and powerful moral and political arguments made it accessible to the common person, selling hundreds of thousands of copies and providing the decisive intellectual momentum needed for the colonists to break with Great Britain.

The incorrect option is 2:
Thomas Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, adopted six months after Common Sense was published, but he did not write the pamphlet. Jefferson was a Virginian statesman and lawyer who contributed profoundly to revolutionary philosophy, but his main contribution was the Declaration.

The incorrect option is 3:
Patrick Henry was a fiery orator from Virginia famous for his speech containing the line, "Give me liberty, or give me death!" Although Henry was a passionate advocate for independence and a major revolutionary figure, he expressed his revolutionary ideals through speeches and political action, not through the authorship of Common Sense.

The incorrect option is 4:
John Adams was a lawyer, diplomat, and Massachusetts delegate who later became the second U.S. President. Adams was a staunch supporter of independence and a key political force in the Continental Congress, but he was not the author of Common Sense. In fact, Adams was sometimes critical of Paine's highly democratic political theories expressed in the pamphlet.

The correct option is 1:

The incorrect option is 2:

The incorrect option is 3:
("Give me liberty, or give me death!")

The incorrect option is 4:

The correct option is 3:
Julius Caesar's first invasion of Britain took place in late summer 55 Before Common Era (55 BC). This military expedition was part of the Gallic Wars, where Caesar sought to punish the British tribes who had been aiding his enemies in Gaul (modern-day France). Although late in the campaigning season, Caesar launched the invasion with two legions, landing near Deal in Kent. The primary goal of this first expedition was reconnaissance and a show of Roman force, rather than conquest. Due to unfavorable weather, loss of ships, and logistical challenges, Caesar stayed only briefly before withdrawing back to Gaul. He returned the following year (54 BC) for a larger, more successful punitive expedition, but the first invasion was definitively in 55 BC.

The incorrect option is 1:
35 Before Common Era is significantly too late. By 35 BC, Julius Caesar was deceased (having been assassinated in 44 BC), and Rome was undergoing the transition from Republic to Empire, with Octavian (Augustus) establishing his power. Roman interactions with Britain continued, but Caesar was not involved at this time.

The incorrect option is 2:
44 Before Common Era is the year Julius Caesar was assassinated in Rome. Although this date is close to the actual invasions, the first invasion had already occurred 11 years earlier. The second and final invasion led by Caesar took place in 54 BC.

The incorrect option is 4:
65 Before Common Era is too early. Caesar was heavily involved in the politics of the Roman Republic and his early military career at this time, but his major campaigns in Gaul (which led to the British invasions) did not begin until the late 60s and early 50s BC. The first invasion of Britain occurred a full decade later.

The correct option is 3:

The incorrect option is 1:

The incorrect option is 2:

The incorrect option is 4:

The correct option is 1:

The invention of the powerloom by Edmund Cartwright in 1787 marked a critical turning point in the mechanization of the textile industry, accelerating the transition from hand-weaving to factory production during the Industrial Revolution. Cartwright, an English clergyman who had no initial technical background, was inspired by the idea of an automated weaving process. He filed his first patent for a powerloom in 1785, but this early model was cumbersome. By 1787, he introduced significant improvements, creating a commercially viable powerloom that greatly increased the speed and efficiency of cloth production. This invention solved the bottleneck created by earlier spinning machines (like the water frame and spinning jenny), which had dramatically increased yarn output but left the slower weaving process struggling to keep up. Cartwright's improved machine enabled large-scale, cost-effective weaving, solidifying his place as the father of the mechanical loom.

The incorrect option is 2:

Richard Arkwright is famous for inventing the Water Frame in 1769, a spinning machine powered by water that produced stronger yarn than the Spinning Jenny, and for establishing the first successful factory system. His focus was on the spinning process, not the weaving mechanism.

The incorrect option is 3:

James Hargreaves is known for inventing the Spinning Jenny in 1764. The Spinning Jenny was one of the earliest machines in the Industrial Revolution that greatly increased the amount of yarn a single worker could produce, but it was used for spinning yarn, not for weaving cloth.

The incorrect option is 4:

John Kay is credited with inventing the Flying Shuttle in 1733. The flying shuttle dramatically sped up the hand-weaving process, allowing weavers to produce wider cloth faster, but it was a technological improvement to the handloom, not a fully mechanized powerloom.

The correct option is 1:

The incorrect option is 2:

The incorrect option is 3:

The incorrect option is 4:

The correct option is 3:

The correct option is 3:
The right chronological order of these milestone events leading to the formation of the United Nations Organization (UNO) is the sequence A, C, B, which corresponds to Option 3. The process began with the Inter-Allied Declaration, which established the initial framework for cooperation and justice during World War II. This was followed by the Dumbarton Oaks Conference, where the formal blueprint for the international organization was hammered out by the major allied powers. Finally, the Yalta Conference resolved critical political issues, particularly concerning voting procedures in the proposed security council, paving the way for the final San Francisco Conference and the signing of the UN Charter.

The incorrect option is 1 (A, B, C):
This option incorrectly places the Yalta Conference (B) before the Dumbarton Oaks Conference (C). The Dumbarton Oaks Conference took place much earlier, from August to October 1944, where representatives drafted the initial proposals for the UN structure. Conversely, the Yalta Conference occurred in February 1945, after Dumbarton Oaks, and primarily focused on postwar Europe and the unresolved issue of voting in the Security Council. Therefore, swapping the positions of B and C makes this sequence historically inaccurate.

The incorrect option is 2 (B, A, C):
This order is fundamentally flawed because it places the Yalta Conference (B, February 1945) first and the Inter-Allied Declaration (A, January 1942) second. The Inter-Allied Declaration, signed at St. James's Palace in London, represents one of the very first steps toward the creation of the UN concept, occurring at the beginning of 1942. The organizational meetings and political discussions at Yalta happened three years later, making this sequence entirely out of chronological order.

The incorrect option is 4 (C, A, B):
This option incorrectly asserts that the Dumbarton Oaks Conference (C, August–October 1944) preceded the Inter-Allied Declaration (A, January 1942). The Dumbarton Oaks Conference was a crucial stage of drafting the UN Charter and was built upon earlier foundations. The Inter-Allied Declaration was a preliminary and inspirational document where countries pledged to work together and established principles for peace. Therefore, the drafting of the charter (C) could not have preceded the foundational principles (A).

The correct option is 3:

The incorrect option is 1:

The incorrect option is 2:

The incorrect option is 4:

The correct option is 3:

The International African Association (Association Internationale Africaine), founded in September 1876 in Brussels, was established at the direct instigation of King Leopold II of Belgium. Although presented publicly as a society of explorers, geographers, and philanthropists dedicated to "civilizing" Central Africa and abolishing the slave trade, its true purpose was to serve as a front for Leopold II's personal colonial ambitions. This association was the preliminary step in Leopold's efforts to acquire territory in the Congo Basin, which ultimately led to the establishment of the notorious Congo Free State under his personal rule. Belgium, represented by its King, was the driving force behind its creation, funding, and direction, setting the stage for one of the most brutal chapters of European colonialism in Africa.

The incorrect option is 1:
England (or the United Kingdom) was a major colonial power with significant interests in Africa, particularly in Southern and Eastern Africa, but it did not establish the International African Association (IAA). While British explorers and philanthropists attended the 1876 Brussels Geographical Conference where the IAA was conceived, the initiative was not British. The British colonial strategy at the time focused on consolidating existing territories rather than creating a new, pan-European philanthropic organization as a prelude to acquiring the Congo.

The incorrect option is 2:
Portugal had long-standing territorial claims in Africa, particularly in Angola and Mozambique, dating back centuries. However, Portugal was not the country responsible for founding the IAA in 1876. In fact, Portugal was concerned about the potential threat the IAA posed to its claims in the region, particularly around the mouth of the Congo River. The IAA was primarily a Belgian/Leopold II initiative, not a Portuguese one.

The incorrect option is 4:
Turkey, representing the Ottoman Empire, had no significant colonial presence or direct interest in the affairs of Central Africa in 1876. The Ottoman Empire's influence was confined mainly to North Africa and the Middle East. While Turkey was a major world power, its geographical focus and political priorities were distinct from the European scramble for Central African territories, making it an entirely unrelated country to the establishment of the International African Association.

The correct option is 3 (बेल्जियम):

The incorrect option is 1 (इंग्लैण्ड):

The incorrect option is 2 (पुर्तगाल):

The incorrect option is 4 (तुर्की):

The correct option is 2:

The correct option is 2: Leonid Brezhnev.

Leonid Brezhnev, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, formally proposed the concept of an "Asian Collective Security System" in June 1969 during the International Conference of Communist and Workers’ Parties in Moscow. This proposal was a significant part of Soviet foreign policy aimed at containing Chinese influence in Asia and projecting Soviet power in the region following the Sino-Soviet split. While the proposal lacked a specific blueprint, it was generally understood by observers as a political framework to replace the expiring Western-backed security treaties and create a new regional order centered on Soviet interests, often utilizing bilateral treaties as a foundation for a multilateral system.

The incorrect option is 1: Nikita Khrushchev.
Nikita Khrushchev served as the leader of the Soviet Union before Brezhnev, having been ousted in 1964. Therefore, he was not in power in 1969 and could not have made this major foreign policy proposal. Khrushchev's primary focus in the preceding years was managing the Cuban Missile Crisis and advocating for peaceful coexistence, not launching this specific Asian security initiative. The context of the 1969 proposal—which was heavily influenced by the deepening split with Mao's China—occurred under Brezhnev's leadership, not Khrushchev's.

The incorrect option is 3: Mikhail Gorbachev.
Mikhail Gorbachev's leadership tenure began much later, in 1985, as the final General Secretary of the Soviet Union. His foreign policy focused on radical reforms like perestroika and glasnost, and seeking détente with the West. He was not involved in Soviet diplomatic maneuvering in 1969 and his major peace and security proposals for Asia occurred in the late 1980s, well after the initial 1969 suggestion.

The incorrect option is 4: Richard Nixon.
Richard Nixon was the President of the United States in 1969. As the leader of the major ideological rival of the Soviet Union during the Cold War, he would not have suggested a Soviet-led "collective security system" for Asia. The US policy at the time, particularly the Nixon Doctrine announced later that year, was focused on reducing US troop commitment while supporting regional allies, standing in direct opposition to Soviet expansionary initiatives.
